The California Supreme Court just announced that it will hear oral argument in
Brinker v. Superior Court (Hohnbaum) on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in San Francisco. So we will have a decision by Valentine's Day. That's about 3 1/2 years after the petition for review was filed. Still well short of the 5 years that they spent on
Martinez v. Combs.
This took a long while. Imagine, 3 1/2 years. Hope the argument will settle things out regarding the right interpretation of state laws about the employer's duty to provide meals and rest breaks to hourly workers.

Finally! This has taken forever! I have been reading about this case for awhile on blogs(http://www.shrm.org/LegalIssues/StateandLocalResources/Pages/BracingforBrinker.aspx, http://www.caliemployment.com/ , etc.). I wonder how long it will take to make a decision...
